General guidelines for academic papers and forms

Professorship for Auditing

A Bachelor's thesis must be completed as part of the Bachelor's degree program.

Registration for the Bachelor's thesis requires a written declaration of specialization in economics or business administration in accordance with § 2 para. 3.

The Bachelor's thesis is a piece of work that must meet the standards of business administration or economics in terms of content and methodology. It must meet the requirements of good scientific practice.

By completing a Bachelor's thesis, students must prove that they are able to independently apply theoretical and methodological instruments of business administration or economics to a limited problem within a limited period of time.

In accordance with § 11 Para. 4, the Bachelor's thesis in the specialization in Business Administration must be written as part of the compulsory module “Seminar + Bachelor's thesis” (§ 6 Para. 5) and must focus on content from the area of Special Business Administration in accordance with § 7 Para. 2 or 3. The content of the Bachelor's thesis must be assigned to an already completed elective module (fundamentals) in Special Business Administration in accordance with § 7 Para. 2. Registration for the Bachelor's thesis requires the written declaration of the specialization in Business Administration in accordance with § 2 Para. 3.

In auditing, the Bachelor's thesis can be completed in the corresponding seminar with the Bachelor's thesis. To register for the seminar with a Bachelor's thesis, we require that the elective module according to § 7 para. 2 in the specialization Business Administration (Fundamentals of Auditing) has been successfully completed.

You will receive all information on writing the thesis at the beginning of the course.

Proof of the Bachelor's thesis according to the curriculum (see forms)

Applicants for diploma and master's theses can assume that an average grade (grade of the PS from the foundation course and subject or module examination grade from the foundation course or compulsory module) of at least 2.5 is expected. Applicants must submit a brief concept (problem definition, objectives, methodology and schedule).

On the basis of the short concept, the supervision of the diploma or master's thesis in the field of examination theory will be discussed. Once a decision has been made on the application, students will be informed immediately and, if necessary, invited to a further interview. For more detailed information on the requirements for applicants and the short concept, as well as the supervision process in our department, please refer to the guidelines.

Our formal requirements for academic papers can be found in our notes on academic papers.
