‘One for the road‘ - an evening at the Irish Pub to celebrate Jamie Dunlea

Jamie Dunlea was a much-loved colleague and friend, who passed away much too early in February this year.

A key member of the British Council’s Assessment Research Group for over a decade and more recently also as president of the European Association for Language Testing and Assessment (EALTA), he made an enormous contribution to English language assessment around the world. Much of his impact was due not only to his extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge about assessment, but also to his personality. Jamie’s enthusiasm was infectious, his passion to engage with ideas and people unmatched. Always excited to meet and network with individuals, facilitating and supporting wherever he could, keen to make things happen, and have a bloody good laugh (and a pint or two) while doing so. Jamie was a wonderful colleague and friend to many of us and he is deeply missed.

Sadly, Jamie won’t be with us to raise a glass at LTRC2024, but we will raise a glass to him. Join us in celebrating and remembering Jamie at The Galway Bay Irish Pub on Wednesday, July 3, as of 20.30 to have ‘one for the road’ in his honour.
