Micromechanics Conference

February 2 to 7, 2025 - Obergurgl, Tyrol, Austria

International conference of quantum micro-mechanical systems

It is a great pleasure to announce the International Conference on Micromechanics 2025at the Obergurgl conference center in Tyrol/Austria, February 2-7, 2025. The conference is organized by Gerhard Kirchmair (IQOQI Innsbruck), Witlef Wieczorek (Chalmers University), Michael Trupke and Markus Aspelmeyer (University of Vienna), Hans Huebl Walther (Meißner Institute Munich), Anja Metelmann (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) and Carles Navau (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).

The conference focuses on the recent progress in the field of quantum-micromechanics with a special focus on levitated systems and circuit QED implementations. Levitated systems allow for extremely high mechanical Q factors while circuit QED systems provide large coupling strength between the mechanics and the resonator. Combining both of these approaches open the door towards controlling the quantum state of the mechanical system.

The venue, Obergurgl, is located in the Ötztal in Tyrol. It is a prominent skiing resort in winter and a nice and relaxing alpine resort in summer. The conference will be held at the University Centre Obergurgl, which is associated with the University of Innsbruck. The center provides a stimulating environment to bring together outstanding researchers and young scientists to present and discuss their most recent results and foster the development of novel ideas. Early career researchers, PostDocs and PhD students are encouraged to participate and apply for an oral or poster presentation.

Accomodation

We note that there are essentially only double rooms and triple rooms available at the Obergurgl conference center. The conference will take place during high season and the ski resort of Obergurgl is fully booked during that time. If you wish to have a single room (at a considerably higher price) or if you wish to bring along (an) accompanying person(s), please contact the conference organizers directly.

How to get there

We will organize three shuttle buses going from Innsbruck to Obergurgl on Sunday the 2nd of February space out over the day. The shuttle Buses will start at the train station in Innsbruck, have a stop at the airport and another stop at Ötztal Bahnhof for people traveling via train from Zürich. The exact time of the buses will be announced in the acceptance email end of November.
