A quarter of a century after the publication of the first Tyrol-specific Red List for vascular plants, a completely redesigned Red List of the ferns and flowering plants of North and East Tyrol is now available. The new edition not only contains the endangered plants of the Tyrolean flora - it is a catalog of all species and subspecies native to Tyrol, established and impermanent. The listing and classification of the included species and subspecies is done separately for the two parts of the province, North and East Tyrol.
This work is a joint effort of field botanists researching in Tyrol, but also in other Austrian provinces - the core team consists of staff members of the Institute of Botany of the University of Innsbruck, the Natural Science Collections of the Tiroler Landesmuseen and the Revital office for East Tyrol.
We would like to thank all those who have contributed to the creation of this list with their knowledge of the Tyrolean flora, thus at the same time making a valuable contribution to nature and species conservation in Tyrol. Special thanks go to the Tyrolean Provincial Government for funding.
