Get to know the world
International exchange is supported by the University of Innsbruck and the Department of Sociology in various ways.
Here you will find information on the offer for sociology students who want to study abroad in Europe via the Erasmus programme and on other opportunities for studying abroad. General information on studying abroad can also be obtained from the International Relations Office of the University of Innsbruck.
There are basically two ways to plan a stay abroad as part of your degree programme.
- The ERASMUS university exchange programme of the European Union
- A further number of project or institute-related agreements and exchange relationships at our university
Although a stay abroad can always take place spontaneously, early planning can greatly improve the chances of receiving grants and a smooth realisation. In some cases, this should begin 1.5 years before the planned exchange in order to find out about the destination country and the desired university and to be able to take care of financing, language preparation and study organisation.
Erasmus Programme - "Those who move, move Europe"
The EU's ERASMUS programme promotes student exchanges in Europe within the framework of bilateral agreements between the participating universities or departments. As part of the ERASMUS programme, all tuition and other fees are waived for participating students at the host universities. The ECTS system facilitates the mutual recognition of academic achievements and assessment scales. Ideally, the study programme abroad should therefore be able to be largely credited to the curriculum in Innsbruck.
You can find more general information about the Erasmus programme on the Website of the International Relations Office.
