DiSCourse - The Digital Science Seminar Series on:
Microbial Interaction in Snow-covered Habitats
We see their effect, but rarely wonder about them. Fungi and bacteria in the soil shape our surroundings and have profound effects on the world as we know it. During my PhD, I studied how their interactions affect plants survival in the Alps, adaptation to climatic conditions in high-alpine grasslands, and how they start the formation of the very soil we all walk on. In this presentation, I share what I have learnt so far.
Edoardo Mandolini, University of Innsbruck, Department of Microbiology and affiliated with DiSC through Miguel Rodríguez-Rojas's group
Edoardo Mandolini is a PhD candidate at the Department of Microbiology. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Parma (Italy) and a master’s degree from Bergen (Norway), where he studied microbes from the very hot pools of Tajikistan to the extremely cold conditions of the Arctic. His research focuses are microbial ecology, microorganisms in extreme encironments, and bioinformatics.
