Lecture Agnieszka Wojciechowska "Women in Hellenistic and Roman Egypt"

On 07.11.2024 a lecture by Agnieszka Wojciechowska entitled “Women in Hellenistic and Roman Egypt” took place from 13:45-15:15 (Innsbruck SR 12, Ágnes-Heller-Haus, Innrain 52a). The guest lecturer from the Polish city of Wrocław spoke about women of the elite in the Earlier, Ptolemaic and Roman periods of Egypt and demonstrated this in an impressive way through various papyri, which gave us an insight into the ancient lives of these women. This ranged from marital procedures, the legacy of a nursing daughter to the depiction of dancing women in honor of Isis on a Roman sacophagus. A lively discussion concluded the interesting one-hour lecture.
