Between and beyond empires

From the Seleucids to the Sasanians (3rd c. BC – 7th c. AD)

As a follow-up conference to Obergurgel 2022 Achaemenid Workshop 2 ‘The Achaemenid Persian Empire and Imperial Transformations in the Ancient Near East (7th - 2nd c. BC)’, this conference focussed on the Seleucid to Sasanian periods. The lectures had an international and interdisciplinary scope. Organised by DC Deputy Director Robert Rollinger, among others, with a lecture by Director Erich Kistler and Chair by Faculty member Brigitte Truschnegg, the invited researchers demonstrated a range of new research findings and insights into various areas and periods of the timeframe under investigation. Also presenting were the fellows Sina Kazemirashid, Clemens Steinwender, Paulina Kaczmarczyk and Alexander Steiner, with Valentina Cambruzzi as a Chair.
