AV production: In the lecture hall
You can record your lectures from specific lecture theatres (List) with just a few clicks. The recordings are automatically saved in your account on the Opencast server and can be downloaded, edited or integrated into OpenOlat.
To record your course, the following steps must be done:
Mark your course in VIS:online with the eLearning component "Recording". The prerequisite for recording is a room booking (FSS) for your course (it must be the course, not a person!). Check that the lecture hall is correctly booked for your dates and that you are registered as a lecturer in your course.
Record events and lectures
If you want to record lectures that are not related to a course, the recording must be set up by the DMLT department. Therefore, please register the recording of the lecture on time by sending an e-mail to av-studio@uibk.ac.at.
How to start a recording
To start the recording in the lecture hall, log in to the lecture hall PC and select the desktop icon "AV-Recorder". This will open the website https://av-recorder.uibk.ac.at/ (only works in the lecture hall!). Here you can start and stop your recording.
Please note: The recording is automatically stopped when the room booking expires (but you can extend the time).
- Your presenter camera and the content you place on projector B will be recorded.
- Please ensure to use a microphone so that the sound is also recorded. In addition to the lectern microphone, you will find a headset and a handheld microphone in the drawer on the left-hand side of the lectern.
Pausing recordings
You can pause your lecture hall recordings via the user interface and continue recording at a later time. Please note that this will create a new recording file for each recorded segment. As such OpenOlat will also treat each video segment as separate recording.
Access to your recordings
The recordings can be found in Opencast (at av-admin.uibk.ac.at) the day after the recording. A detailed description of the functions can be found here.
Integrate videos into OpenOlat
With the "Recordings" module, you can easily integrate recordings/series from the lecture hall, from Opencast Studio or from BigBlueButton into your OpenOlat course.
In general, only the person who recorded the videos can embed them. If other people (e.g. tutors) should integrate your videos in OpenOlat, they must first be given access to the recordings (see above).
You can find step-by-step instructions for this in the HelpCard 32-040.
