Audio and Video Transmission
Audio and video transmission refers to the synchronised exchange of information via technically supported products or other communication media. At the University of Innsbruck, we differentiate between three technologies:
Webconferences
With the help of webconferencing systems, meetings, seminars and even courses can be held virtually, regardless of the location of the participants (be they in the office, at home, in transit, etc.).
Livestreaming
Streaming is a live transmission of a video/webconference via the internet for a very large audience. Students follow the broadcast simultaneously (e.g. in OpenOlat), but the video is not saved or stored anywhere thereafter.
Video conferencing between lecture halls
A video conference is a video and audio transmission between two or more lecture halls.
This means that students at a remote location can also ask questions, take part in the discussion and collaborate.
