40-072 Export of score lists and grade calculation for import into VIS:online

What you need to know

The assessable modules in OpenOlat only provide points. In order to generate a grade for the VIS:online, you must transfer the points into a grading scheme. You can perform the calculation in Excel, for example.

You can find a template* in which you can adapt your mark scheme here: Template: Calculation of grades for VIS:online import.

Explanations on how to download examination results can be found at HelpCard 40-071.

What you need to do

OpenOlat

  1. In your course, click on Administration and then on Assessment tool.
  2. You will now see an overview of all participants and open assessments (if available). In the navigation on the left you will see a list of all assessable course elements in your course.
  3. On the left, click on the test whose data you want to download and then on the Participants tab.
  4. Now click on Export results at the top. A ZIP file will be downloaded.

File system

Depending on the file system, you can open the folder directly or you must first unzip the ZIP file to be able to open the files.

  1. Open the downloaded file and the Results folder.
  2. Now open the .xlsx file inside. This is named like the module and the test resource including the date.

Excel

  1. Remove columns G and H. These are not required. (Select the column using the right mouse button and select "Delete cells")
  2. Now copy columns A to I to the clipboard.
  3. Paste the copied columns into the provided Template. The table automatically calculates the grades. The formulae are highlighted up to row 60; if you have more students, drag the last cell of the respective columns downwards. The formatting, including the formulae, is now automatically applied.
  4. In column N ("Points"), enter the number of points that must be achieved in order to receive the corresponding grade. You can see the respective grade in column K.
  5. Columns U to X show the table for the VIS:online import. The columns are already pre-configured accordingly. If the columns are too short, drag the last cell down again. The configurations are automatically adjusted.
  6. Now select the table area to be imported (columns U to X).
  7. Copy the selection to the clipboard using the key combination (Ctrl + C).

VIS:online

  1. Open the grade list in VIS:online in which you want to insert the candidates in edit mode. To do this, click on the Add/edit candidates button in the grade list.
  2. Click on the first free matriculation number field at the end of the grade list.
  3. Paste the candidates from the clipboard using the key combination (Ctrl + V).
  4. The candidates are now in the grade list and you can edit them immediately.
