Coordinator of department for energy efficient building
Research Area: Energy efficient buildings and HVAC, Renewable Energy, Energy Scenarios
Wolfgang Streicher is currently head of the Institute of Construction and Material Science and the unit of Energy Efficient Building, University of Innsbruck. From 3/2020 to 2/2023 he was Vice Rector for Infrastructure and responsible for sustainability at the University of Innsbruck. He taught/teaches Building Services Engineering, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Heat Pumps, Tube Hydraulics, Modelling, Thermodynamics, Energy and Ecology. His current research focus is on (i) energy efficient climate design of buildings, (ii)development of cost and energy efficient systems solutions for HVAC systems including renewables; (iii) energy demand of cities using GIS and bottom up approaches; (iv) hydraulics of complex tube networks; (v) energy efficient systems for cities and energetic scenarios to reach the 2050 climate goals. He works in these fields since more than 35 years, has published over 200 papers in reviewed international journals and conferences and is member of several national standardization committees. Moreover, he has coordinated and coordinates many projects for Austrian institutions as well as the European Commission and the International Energy Agency.
