Dean & Dean of Studies

The Dean and the Dean of Studies welcome you to the Faculty of Engineering Sciences.

Greetings from the Dean

Dear students,
Dear members of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences,
Dear Sir or Madam

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering Sciences at the University of Innsbruck!

Our Faculty of Engineering covers a broad spectrum of subject areas, ranging from civil engineering and environmental engineering to mechatronics and electrical engineering. This diversity of subject areas is also reflected in our expertise and enables us to develop innovative technologies for the future and meet the pressing challenges of climate change.

As Dean, it is my vision that our Faculty will continue to play a leading role in the research and development of innovative technologies. We will continue to endeavour to prepare our students for their future roles as technical innovators and encourage them to use their knowledge and skills for the benefit of society.

Our faculty is at the forefront of researching and implementing the latest developments in civil and environmental engineering. We are committed to promoting sustainable construction practices that minimise the environmental footprint of our infrastructures. We are actively engaged in environmental engineering by developing solutions that have a positive impact on the environment and promote sustainable resource utilisation. At the same time, we are exploring innovative approaches in mechatronics and electrical engineering to develop more efficient technologies that also contribute to the fulfilment of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

I would like to emphasise the initiative of the Campus Tirol Motorsport Team, which is taking part in the international Formula Student competition with a specially designed electric racing car. The team is made up of around 80 students from various Tyrolean universities, representing different fields of study such as computer science, mechatronics, physics and economics. Many of our faculty members are part of this team, whose workshop is located directly at our faculty.

As the first female dean of this faculty, it is particularly important to me to encourage all women in our community to choose to study and work in the technical sciences. We all contribute to creating an inclusive and diverse environment where women are encouraged to contribute their skills and passions to the diverse subject areas of our Faculty.

I encourage you all to actively participate in the academic life of our Faculty, whether through teaching, research or involvement in our many projects and initiatives. Together we can make a significant contribution to shaping a sustainable future.

Greetings from the Dean of Studies

Dear students,

A warm welcome to you all! It is a special pleasure for me to welcome you to the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Innsbruck. Our university city of Innsbruck is characterised by education and research, and we are proud to make a significant contribution to this.

Our study programmes

At our faculty you can expect a wide range of study options from civil and environmental engineering to mechatronics and electrical engineering. Our programmes cover all academic levels from Bachelor to doctorate. We attach great importance to a sound basic education, inspired by cutting-edge research and close links with professional practice through our numerous collaborations with industry.

Specialisations and research

In our Master's programmes, you have the opportunity to specialise according to your interests. Whether in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechatronics or electrical engineering, we offer you the freedom to set your personal specialisations and deepen your skills. Our doctoral programme opens the doors to the world of science and research, where you will work closely with our research groups and present your results internationally.

Support along the way

We recognise that the transition from school to university can be challenging. That's why we do everything we can to support you from day one. Take advantage of our information events for first-year students, our buddy/mentoring programme and our wide range of advisory services. We want you to find your feet quickly and successfully master your studies.
