Biography
Dr Clara Rauchegger is a tenure-track Senior Assistant Professor of EU Law and Digital Technology Law. She joined the University of Innsbruck from the European University Institute in Florence, where she was a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow for two years.
She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, where she was a member of Trinity Hall. At the University of Cambridge, Clara also served as Managing Editor of the Cambridge International Law Journal.
Clara’s expertise lies in European Union law, with a particular focus on fundamental rights protection and technology regulation. She is currently working on her Habilitation project on the governance of intermediary online platforms in the EU. At the University of Innsbruck, she is a member of the Digital Science Centers, a new research center that examines digital innovation from an interdisciplinary perspectve.
Clara has won several prestigious research awards, including the University of Innsbruck France Focus Award, including the Eduard Wallnöfer Award and the Research Award of the City of Innsbruck. Her publications have appeared in leading journals such as the Zeitschrift für öffentliches Recht, the Cambridge Yearbook of European Legal Studies, the Maastricht Journal of European and Comparative Law and the Common Market Law Review and as articles and commentaries in well known publishing houses such as Manz, Beck, Cambridge University Press and Hart Publishing.
Prior to her academic career, Clara worked at the Representation of Tyrol to the EU, the European Parliament and the Court of Justice of the EU.

- EU constitutional law (EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, general principles of EU law, relationship between EU law and national law, judicial protection)
- Implementation and interpretation of EU law in the Member States, in particular by national (constitutional) courts
- Governance of intermediary online platforms and digital technology in the EU
- Interdisciplinary research on digital innovatio

Her interviews have appeared in daily newspapers such as Der Standard, Falter, Kronen Zeitung and Tiroler Tageszeitung as well as on ORF radio (Radio Tirol, Ö1 Digital Leben, Ö1 Morgenjournal) and ORF television (Tirol Heute, konkret, ZIB Magazin).

Teaching
Clara teaches European Union law, technology law and legal research methods for the Master degrees and the PhD degree in law. In addition, she teaches interdisciplinary courses on the law and governance of digital technology for the Minor in Digital Science.
She holds two teaching certificates: the Teaching Certificate of the University of Innsbruck and the Max Weber Teaching Certificate of the European University Institute and Humboldt University Berlin.
