Buddy Mentoring System

The buddy/mentoring system at the Institute of Geology (in partnership with the Institute of Mineralogy) aims to support and encourage all Bachelor, Master and PhD students throughout their Earth Science study programmes.

Our bachelor and master buddies are experienced students you can contact if you have any questions throughout your studies.

For 2024-2025, your buddies are:

Mentors

Mentors are teaching staff who act as central contacts and partners for student concerns. They can be contacted by students in all phases of their degree programme.

Our mentors are:

Our BMS Offer

During the first few weeks of your studies, various introductory seminars and events are offered to help you navigate your new academic and social environment and meet other members of the institute.

Afterwards, regular meetings (approx. once per month) during both winter and summer semesters invite students to get together with buddies and mentors in an informal environment and use this time to ask further questions, raise concerns or simply enjoy each others company.

On OLAT, the BMS ‚course‘ provides helpful advice on where to find additional soft skills training that you may need for your studies (e.g writing courses, excel tutorials, statistics training) as well as careers guidance.
