Elija Nitz Thaler, LSU Student shortlisted @ international architecture competition

International Architecture Competition

Peja Culture Pavilion

LSU proudly anounces that the project "DETACHED" by Elija Nitz Thaler has been shortlisted in the International Architecture Competition "Peja Culture Pavilion". Congrats!

The designstudio has been supervised by Arch. Giacomo Nüsslein at LSU, the Lightweight Structures Unit, Prof. Günther H. Filz.

Peja’s city center hosts a historic site central to community life. Featuring a 15th-century water source protected by Kosovo’s Ministry of Culture, it has fallen into neglect. The Peja Culture Pavilion competition seeks to restore it, creating a dynamic public space for cultural and social engagement.

Buildner collaborated with an esteemed international jury to evaluate submissions based on creativity, feasibility, and historical preservation. The panel included experts in architecture, urban planning, and cultural heritage including Sandra Baggerman – Designer at the New York office of Trahan Architects, Hildur Isdal – Icelandic architect , Florina Jerliu – Associate Professor at the University of Prishtina, Luise Marter – Collaborator with KWY studio in Lisbon, Gazmend Muhaxheri – Mayor of Peja Municipality, construction engineer, and longtime advocate for regional urban development, Harrison Stallan – Architect at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam, Netherlands and Blake T. Smith – Educator and former Associate Senior Designer at BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group.
