What do you know about upcycling? When was the last time you repaired something? Are you already part of the sharing economy?
Die Grundbedingungen für die Architektur haben sich seit der Moderne verändert. In einer immer wärmer werdenden Welt ist nun der Bau- und Gebäudesektor der Hauptverursacher der weltweiten Abfall- und Schadstofferzeugung, des Ressourcenabbaus und Energieverbrauchs aus nicht erneuerbaren Ressourcen. Architektur kann im 21. Jahrhundert nicht länger auf Kosten der Umwelt und künftiger Generationen entstehen. «Neues» Bauen muss sich vom Dogma des "Neubaus auf der Grünen Wiese" lösen. Zukunftsfähiges Bauen darf nicht länger auf dem weissen Blatt Papier, sondern muss mit Gebäudebestand, bereits bestehenden Bauteilen und gebrauchten Materialien umgehen. Vorhandene Qualitäten sollen verstärkt, bereits gebautes genutzt und seit Jahrhunderten geschaffene Qualitäten wertgeschätzt werden.
Als Start ins Semester findet eine Exkursion nach Südtirol statt, um an der 5. Upcycling Convention in Bozen & Brixen teilzunehmen.
In Zusammenarbeit mit der uni_bz gibt es Vorträge & Workshops zu den Themen reuse, upcycling & wieder - bzw weiterverwendung.
UPCON (Upcycling Convention) is an event dedicated to promoting upcycling and sustainable living practices. It connects upcycling enthusiasts with businesses, policymakers, educators, and students to foster awareness and adoption of upcycling. The event includes workshops, talks from experts, and a market showcasing upcycled products. The 5th edition will be held on October 4-5, 2024, featuring activities that encourage repair, reuse, and the sharing economy. We want to show and explain to you how we produce and how we live the 2nd hand lifestyle. We aim to raise awareness about upcycling in our society to present an alternative to common consumption patterns.
The 5th edition of UPCON brings together a conference on 4.10. at the Faculty of Design and Art of unibz (Bolzano) and a festival taking place on 5.10. at REX – Material und Dinge (Bressanone) with activities that encourage repair, reuse, and sharing economy. UPCON is an event co-organized by Julia Vontavon/REX – Materials and things (www.rex-bx.it), Verena Dariz/OEW – Organisation for a solidary world (www.oew.org), Aart van Bezooijen/unibz – Faculty of Design and Art (www.unibz.it) and Johannes Münsch / Upcycling Studio (www.upcycling-studio.com). UPCON takes place at the premises of REX – Material und Dinge / Materiali e cose in Bressanone.

The city center of Peja, Kosovo, hosts a historically significant site that has long been a focal point for community gatherings and social interactions. Rich in cultural and recreational elements, this central location, originally designed for leisure and relaxation, has been an integral part of the urban landscape. One of its most notable features is an ancient water source dating back to the 15th century, which remains under the protection of the Ministry of Culture of Kosovo. Despite its historical and cultural importance, the site has been neglected for years, falling into disrepair and disuse. The Peja Culture Pavilion competition aims to revitalize this area, transforming it into a vibrant public hotspot.
Das Stadtzentrum von Peja, Kosovo, beherbergt einen historisch bedeutsamen Ort, der seit langem ein Brennpunkt für Versammlungen und soziale Interaktionen ist. Dieser zentrale Ort, der ursprünglich für Freizeit und Erholung gedacht war, ist reich an kulturellen und erholsamen Elementen und ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des Stadtbildes. Eines der bemerkenswertesten Merkmale ist eine alte Wasserquelle aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, die nach wie vor unter dem Schutz des Kulturministeriums des Kosovo steht. Trotz ihrer historischen und kulturellen Bedeutung wurde die Stätte jahrelang vernachlässigt, verfiel und wurde nicht mehr genutzt. Der Wettbewerb für den Peja-Kulturpavillon zielt darauf ab, diesen Ort wiederzubeleben und ihn in einen lebendigen öffentlichen Treffpunkt zu verwandeln.
