Abstract. In this project, we target weaverbirds' nesting, in which the design search process is based on construction and evolutionary learning. Inspired by weaverbirds’ nest-building strategies and variation in pattern topology, we seek to create a construction-based design method for complex bending-active structures. Our proposed method aims to increase influence and flexibility in the early design process of bending-active structures and pave the way for increased variations in patterns and final forms.
