Mag. Dr. Monika Mayrhofer

Senior Scientist

Monika Mayrhofer studied political science at the Universities of Vienna and Copenhagen and received her PhD in 2008. Her research areas are climate change with a particular focus on climate change-related mobilities from a human rights perspective, intersectional inequality and discrimination, and international and European human rights discourses, policies and systems from a political science point of view.

She joined the Department of Applied Sociology of Law and Criminology as a Senior Scientist in July 2023. Previously, she worked as a pre-doctoral researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (2006-2008) and as a Senior Researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights in Vienna from 2011. Since 2004, she has been teaching regularly at the University of Vienna and at the University of Krems. From 2010-2015 she repeatedly was a visiting professor at the Institute of International Studies at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok/Thailand.
