The Department of Media, Society and Communication is one of the youngest communication and media science departments in the world. It was established on 1 January 2017.

In teaching and research, we focus on topics that are currently being discussed in society.

Our English-language Master's degree programme "Media, Society and Communication" provides an understanding of digital platforms, networks and infrastructures as well as processes of digitalisation and datafication (including data analysis and data criticism). Our English-language doctoral programme "PhD Social and Political Sciences" will start in October 2025.
