During the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe (PCNE) conference in June this year, the University of Innsbruck achieved two significant milestones:
- Dr. Ivana Tadic's election as president of the PCNE network board. This milestone not only positions the University to host the next PCNE conference in February next year, but also provides a unique opportunity to showcase Austria's clinical pharmacy expertise to a wider European audience.
- The Department of Clinical Pharmacy, under the leadership of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anita Weidmann, has made a significant commitment to advancing pharmaceutical care. This is evident in the department's institutional membership in the PCNE.
The Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe is a European association of clinical pharmacy researchers and practicing pharmacists established 30 years ago. Its mission is to advance pharmacy and pharmaceutical care across Europe by promoting pharmaceutical care and related research among academics, PhD students, and pharmacy professionals. The PCNE is well-known for its involvement of shaping policy and practice across Europe through the development and release of the Drug-Related Problems (DRP) classification, the publication of clinical indicators for pharmacy services and the standardization of terminology. The core PCNE documents have been translated into several languages and are used across Europe and beyond to advance clinical pharmacy in patient facing practice settings. In addition, several multinational studies have been conducted within the PCNE, resulting in multiple joint publications.
