Since January 2023, a new offer allows university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck and the Medical University of Innsbruck to publish open access free of charge with Oxford University Press (OUP). Members of both universities can publish open access in 475 hybrid and gold open access journals of OUP free of charge.

Which journals can researchers of the university publish in?

You can publish open access in 475 OUP journals. A title list is available here.

Who can publish open access?

Eligible are authors, who

  • are corresponding authors of the articles
  • are university members with active employment contracts or students of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck
  • use their institutional email address in the process of submission
  • whose article was accepted in a OUP journal
  • are publishing a research article, review article, brief report or case report

ATTENTION: It is not permitted to retrospectively change the corresponding author after peer review.

Procedure/Verification Process:

OUP is currently moving its journals to a new workflow via the SciPris system. For journals in the old workflow, authors must actively assign the APC to the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck.
A step-by-step guide is available here!

For journals in the new workflow, this step does not apply and authors can simply choose open access via the agreement of the University of Innsbruck or the Medical University of Innsbruck. In both cases, the publisher will inform the author about the existing agreement beforehand. The affiliation is verified by OUP and the university/university library.
