Engelbert Portenkirchner's research is dedicated to the challenges and opportunities of novel, innovative concepts, chemical processes and architectures for advanced energy storage systems. His aim is to push the frontiers for advanced energy storage systems, that are low-cost and environmentally friendly.

About
Engelbert Portenkirchner studied eco-energy technology in Wels and habilitated at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Innsbruck with a thesis on sodium-ion batteries. He is now head of the working group Battery Technologies there and conducts basic research into new chemical processes and materials for sustainable energy storage.
