Manfred Kleidorfer is Professor for Sustainable Development of Urban Water Infrastructure at the Unit of Environmental Engineering at the Department of Infrastructure. His research focuses on the sustainability of urban water infrastructure, rainwater management, and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). Moreover, he is deeply involved in addressing the challenges of climate change and its effects on urban water management. These include an increase in heavy rainfall events with elevated flooding risks as well as an increase in droughts and heatwaves that necessitate improvements in the urban climate. Furthermore, he is contributing as a co-author to the Austrian Climate Report (AAR2), which is currently in the process of being prepared.

About
Manfred Kleidorfer is an expert in urban water management and researches numerical modeling of drainage and supply systems, including systems analysis, uncertainties and model calibration. He seeks to understand the consequences of upcoming challenges such as climate change or aging infrastructures and to find solutions for adaptation, mitigation and rehabilitation. Manfred Kleidorfer considers urban water systems as an integral part of a city, and analyzes them in the context of a constantly changing environment.
