Research security
Research security refers to the anticipation and management of risks associated with in connection with:
a) the undesired transfer of critical knowledge and technologies which may compromise the security of the Union and its Member States, e.g. when they are put at the service of military or intelligence purposes in third countries;
b) malicious interference with research where it can be instrumentalized by or from third countries in order to e.g. generate disinformation or to incite students and researchers to self-censorship and thus violate the academic freedom and integrity of research in the integrity of research in the Union;
c) breaches of ethical principles or integrity where knowledge and technologies are used to suppress, violate or undermine the values and fundamental rights laid down in the Treaties.
