Best Student Paper Award

To promote young academics and acknowledge their achievements, the University of Innsbruck announcing the "Best Student Paper Award" every year. A total of at least 6,000 euros will be awarded.

The prize is divided into three categories according to scientific subjects:

Category 1

Faculty of Architecture,

Faculty of Catholic Theology

Faculty of Language, Literature and Culture

Faculty of Philosophy and History

Category 2

Faculty of Biology

Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy

Faculty of Geo- and Atmospheric Sciences

Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics

Faculty of Technical Sciences

Category 3

Faculty of Business Administration

Faculty of Education

Faculty of Teacher Education

Faculty of Social and Political Sciences

Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science

Faculty of Economics and Statistics

Faculty of Law

Doctoral students of all faculties enrolled at the University of Innsbruck at the time of submission are eligible to apply.

In the case of a collaborative work, only the main responsible author (first author or corresponding author) in agreement with the co-authors may submit.

An outstanding scientific article already published or accepted for publication in a recognised scientific journal. The publication must not date back more than one year at the time of application.

The article must be published with an affiliation to the University of Innsbruck.

Documents to be submitted

  1. Application form download
  2. Published scientific article (paper)
    If the article has not yet been published: Essay and confirmation of publication from the publisher
  3. Abstract (max. 1 A4 page in English or German)
  4. Abstract (max. 4 to 5 sentences) and short CV (max. 3 to 4 sentences) in German (will be used for the speech at the ceremony)
  5. Letter of motivation (why your scientific work should be honoured, approx. 1 page)
  6. CV and list of relevant publications of the applicant
  7. Declaration of consent from co-authors (please refer to the template in the form)
  8. Study record and confirmation of study period LFU:onlinenot older than 14-days

The next tender is expected to take place again in 2025.

The prize consists of a sum of money and a certificate.

The decision will be made on the basis of the ranking of an expert jury.

The German version of the call prevails over the English one in case deviations.
