Buddy-/Mentoring Programme
The Buddy/Mentoring Programme of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences is there to support students right from the start. In order to overcome possible challenges, buddies and mentors are available to answer questions and provide helpful tips on how to best master everyday student life.

You can provisionally register for courses in the Master's degree programme by contacting the respective course instructor. However, examinations and examination-relevant parts of an examination-immanent course can only be completed once admission to the Master's degree programme has been granted.
No, however it is possible to temporarily register for individual courses if the Bachelor's degree programme is completed by the end of the admission period for the Master's degree programme. Examinations from the Master's programme can only be taken after admission has been granted.
Requirements, usually courses from the Bachelor's degree programme, must be fulfilled within the first two semesters. If this is not done, admission to the degree programme is cancelled and it cannot be continued. The examinations must be successfully completed by the end of the following summer semester (30 September) at the beginning of the winter semester.
In the case of courses with limited places, students who have to attend this course as a requirement have the right to preferential admission so that the deadline can be met.
The respective study representatives are responsible for credit transfer. The relevant form can be found on the relevant information page of the degree programme or can be obtained from the Examinations Office, where the documents must also be submitted.
Please note that, as a rule, only courses from other Master's programmes can be accredited for a Master's programme.

A Master's thesis not written at the University of Innsbruck cannot be recognised. However, it is possible to write the Master's thesis abroad in cooperation with a company/another university. However, you will always need a supervisor at the University of Innsbruck and the same requirements apply as for other Master's theses (templates etc.).
From the winter semester 2022/2023, students who are newly admitted to a Bachelor's or diploma degree programme are obliged to complete 16 ECTS credits in the first four semesters of each degree programme to which they have been admitted. If the coursework is not completed, admission to the degree programme expires for the student concerned on 1 November or 1 April. Re-admission to this degree programme is only possible after two academic years have elapsed.
A leave of absence is possible for several reasons. A leave of absence is always granted for an entire semester; no courses can be attended or examinations taken during this semester. A leave of absence due to an internship requires a statement from the Dean of Studies.
