What do we student representatives do?
The Student Representatives (StV) for Translation Studies is a team of students who represent the interests of students on a voluntary basis. The StV is elected every two years as part of the Austrian Students' Union (ÖH) elections. Here, the Austrian-wide, university-wide and degree programme-related representatives are elected by all students at various levels. Candidates for the StV are elected directly by personal vote.
The main tasks of the StV are to represent the interests of students vis-à-vis the university and the ÖH. This includes
- Counselling students, especially first-semester students, and helping with concerns, questions and problems;
- Participation in various university committees (e.g. appointments committee, curriculum committee, etc.), which gives us a direct say in a wide range of matters;
- Maintaining contact with the department and teaching staff
- In addition, the StV is keen to promote dialogue between students through various activities (language cafés, pub quizzes, etc.).
So if you have any questions, complaints, problems or ideas, we are always ready to listen to you. Please get in touch by email or in person to arrange a meeting. Do you have ideas and a desire to help shape student social life at the department? We are always happy to welcome new members to our tutor team, because it's simply easier to study together!
How do counselling sessions work?
We offer counselling sessions throughout the semester. Simply send us a brief description of what you are interested in and 2-3 suggested dates by e-mail - there is always a free slot in our calendar that we can reserve for you. During the last two weeks of the semester, we only offer e-mail consultations due to the stress of graduation and exams. Thank you for your understanding!
You can also reach us during the lecture-free period at stv-translationswissenschaft-oeh@uibk.ac.atand can arrange a personal counselling appointment with us if necessary! :)
Counselling hours winter semester 2024/25:
Monday 14:00 to 16:00
Thursday 14:00 to 15:00
During the semester, you will find at least one of us in the Diplomandenraum (3rd floor) during consultation hours. However, if you have any important concerns, please write us a short e-mail beforehand so that someone is there who is familiar with your issue.
