Julika Knapp has been working as a research assistant in the Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Innsbruck since 2009. She specialises in waste treatment and resource management. Julika Knapp specialises in the field of biological waste treatment and biogas production. She also deals with urban mining - utilisation of resources in old landfills. Furthermore, she supports the teaching activities of the department and supervises student research projects.
Julika Knapp studied "Technical Environmental Protection" at the TU Berlin and the University of Nottingham in the UK, specialising in water and wastewater management as well as environmental management and waste prevention/recycling. After completing her studies, she carried out a study on local water resource management in Chile. Julika Knapp then worked for Adelphi Research, an international environmental research institute. Her main focus there was on issues of international technology and know-how transfer and the use of adapted environmental technologies in developing and newly industrialising countries.
