Predatory Journals

are journals that charge money for their services and do not provide them or provide them in poor quality. The term "predatory journals" is often used synonymously with the term fake journals .

In contrast to high-quality (open access) journals that provide services such as editing, marketing, long-term archiving, quality assurance and much more, predatory journals offer no guarantee of long-term archiving, no or inadequate quality assurance and false information on indicators (e.g. impact factor).

If you would like to check the quality of a journal, please use Checklist.

You can also contact Lisa Hofer or Erika Pörnbacher directly, we will check the journal for you: ulb-emedien@uibk.ac.at.
