The university course provides fundamental knowledge in managing estates and special collections, as well as methods and techniques for cataloging their objects and making them accessible to the public.

Qualifikation Profile
- You have comprehensive knowledge in the acquisition and management of estates, especially in handling autographs, records, and correspondence collections.
- You are familiar with national and international standards and regulations for estate cataloging and apply this knowledge in practice.
- You can classify estates using different organizational methods according to specific materials. Additionally, you are familiar with appropriate methods for sustainable preservation and storage of objects.
- You can not only apply these methods but also make them accessible for research, teaching, and scientific purposes as well as for the interested public. This includes competency in digitization and digital long-term archiving, as well as the ability to maintain records in national and international estate and autograph databases.
- Another focus of the course is on understanding and applying methods for building, cataloging, and preserving special collections.
- You are aware of peculiarities in object preservation and can consider these aspects in handling the respective collection items. The results of your work are relevant not only for research, teaching, and science but also accessible to the interested public.
