Library and Information Studies – Basic Programme

You would like to work in the area of information management or are already employed in this area? The continuing education basic programme - Library and Information may be completeed as full-time study programme within two semesters, or part-time within three semesters. It combines classic teaching methods with innovative electronic forms of learning into a blended learning concept and thus enables part-time training.

In Austria training for library personnel for qualified and highly qualified task areas is ruled by §101 par. 3 Universities’ Act 2002 and the University Library Personnel Training Regulations (BGBl. II No. 377/2014).

Content

The Continuing Education Programme Library and Information Studies combines classic teaching methods with innovative electronic types of learning (blended learning) and thus makes it possible to take the programme part-time and combine it with working:

  • During classroom modules, our instructors will impart theoretical fundamentals in group work, presentations, discussions and case studies. During preparatory and follow-up phases, students work independently on practical topics with the help of online tools.
  • During the internship, you can advance the knowledge gained in the classes. You improve your chances for entering the job market and have networking opportunities home and abroad.
  • During the project you will learn how to work with concepts and tools of project management to plan and implement a practical task in the team.
