Practical Laboratory Course for Geotechnical Engineering
The Practical Course for Geotechnical Engineering provides hands-on training in conducting and evaluating standard geotechnical laboratory tests, such as grain size distribution, consistency limits, soil identification and classification, as well as Proctor and shear tests. After a theoretical introduction, participants receive raw data from actual laboratory tests and analyze them independently. The focus is on both theoretical foundations and practical application.

Barbara Schneider-Muntau is a university professor of soil mechanics at the University of Innsbruck and an expert in the numerical modeling of natural hazards in alpine regions. Her research focuses on understanding and developing sustainable solutions for monitoring and stabilizing mountains threatened by climate change. She is the lead author of the 2nd Austrian Assessment Report on Climate Change.
