Libraries need to take the responsibility for digital objects as well. They have accept that the mode of collecting digital objects, the way to present them to users and the task to preserve digital items for decades and centuries will need the re-structuring of established workflows and the intensified cooperation with publishers and IT-professionals.

The reUSE project will make a distinct contribution towards implementing the digital library of the future. The reUSE partners will focus on the publications of public sector institutions. Together with the printed material the digital originals will be collected, preserved and made available.
