SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
This international symposium is one in a continuing biennial series of conferences (the last one was held in 2004 in LaThuile, Aosta, Italy)) which seeks to promote the growth of scientific knowledge and effective exchange of information among scientists in the field of atomic, molecular, and surface physics and with a major focus on nano particles and biomolecules. The symposium deals in particular with collisional interactions involving different types of collision partners, i.e. electrons, photons, molecules, nano particles, and surfaces. A special emphasis of this conference will be to provide room for discussion between academics and industry by a proper choice of lecturers.
There will be 20 and 30 min invited expert lectures covering recent advances in the topics of the Symposium. Contributed papers will be presented in two poster sessions. These poster sessions provide the main forum for presentation of new work and for discussion of recent progress. Prior to the official poster sessions there will be introductory sessions, which will give the authors of each contributed paper the opportunity to present orally highlights of their work presented on the poster in a one minute mini-lecture (1 to 2 viewgraphs!).
A few of these contributions will be selected for oral presentation as Hot Topics (20 min lectures).
CONFERENCE DATES AND LOCATION
The 15th SASP will be held in the university run centre Universitätszentrum Obergurgl in Obergurgl, a small village in the mountains of Tirol, located 100 km away from Innsbruck in the back of the Ötztal Valley at 1930 m elevation. Obergurgl can be reached by public transportation (train and bus) from Innsbruck (for detailed information see conference homepage), nevertheless easy access will be provided (at a small fee paid directly on the bus) by a shuttle service from and to Innsbruck organized at the beginning and end of the conference.
SASP will start on the evening of February 4 (Saturday) with registration, dinner and a first evening lecture and will end on the morning of February 9, 2006 (Thursday) with breakfast. Lectures are held in morning and afternoon sessions and the lunch break will be free for discussion, reading or recreation. The participants will be accommodated in the Universitätszentrum Obergurgl in double or three-bed rooms. There is also the possibility to book single rooms in nearby hotels (walking distance up to 400 m to the Universitätszentrum). All presentations and the joint meals (dinner) will be organized in the Universitätszentrum. In the Universitätszentrum there are several computers with internet access and the house is linked to the university internet network via wireless lan. Sauna, gym and table tennis can be used free of charge.
Note: The ski resort of Obergurgl/Hochgurgl offers 110 km of immaculate down hill runs for all abilities and the Universitätszentrum is situated only a few turns from the ski lifts, enabling you to get from the lecture hall directly to the slopes on your skis. Additionally, there are several cross-country tracks and winter hiking trails close by. The local skischool offers ski, snowboard and cross country lessons at all levels (children and adults) and also has plenty of equipment to rent.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
All papers, oral and contributed, will be published in a "Book of Conference Proceedings" in the conference series of the Innsbruck University Press, which will be distributed to all participants at the beginning of the Symposium. The individual camera ready contributions should not exceed 4 (four) pages including figures and references and should be produced using the template available at the Conference Homepage. The size of these pages should be A4 (210x297 mm or 8.5x11") and a margin of 25 mm should be left clear on all four sides of these pages. These abstracts may be submitted only by e-mail (as attachment) using a Word document or Rich Text Format (see call for abstracts). Please underline the name of the poster presenter.
DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
The abstracts must be received by the local organizing committee (email address: SASP-2006@uibk.ac.at) before November 15, 2005.
CONFERENCE AND ACCOMMODATION FEES
The conference fee for regular participants will be EUR 550.- and for accompanying persons EUR 400.- in double rooms. Student rooms (2- or 3-bed rooms) are available at a reduced fee of EUR 350.- per person, but students need a valid student ID to qualify for this reduced rate. A few single rooms can be booked in guesthouses/hotels within walking distance (up to 400 m) to the Universitätszentrum at a fee of EUR 700.-. The Full Conference and Accommodation Fee includes breakfast and dinner (starting with the dinner on Saturday evening and ending with the breakfast on Thursday morning), the Conference Dinner, coffee breaks, and the Book of Abstracts. Lunch bags (for your outing activities) can be booked in the Universitätszentrum for an additional charge of 5 EURO per day on a daily basis (to be booked the night before).
Please note that the number of participants is limited to about 100 due to the capacity of the lecture hall available. Registrations will be handled on a first come first serve basis, thus please register at your earliest convenience. Because of the infrastructure in Obergurgl registration (including the payment) is asked before September 1, 2005; for later registrations we cannot guarantee that rooms are still available in Obergurgl.
We hope to see you in Obergurgl!
