"Creole Kaleidoscope" meets Jazz Piano

On September 1, 2015, the American Corner Innsbruck initiated a series of events commemorating the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina: "New Orleans after Katrina: Then and Now". This first event, held at the Mozarteum Innsbruck, featured an e-book presentation by Ute von Mauernböck-Mosser, who was accompanied on piano by the renowned New Orleans jazz musician Tom McDermott. In a fascinating duet between documentary interviews with survivors of the hurricane and subsequent flooding of the city and a musical history of distinctly New Orleans styles, the two presenters managed to impart a vivid picture of the city, past and present. This series, conducted in cooperation with the University of Innsbruck's Center New Orleans office, and continued with an event every other Tuesday until November 24, 2015.
