Monday Special Lecture Series: 175 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Austria and the U.S.

The University of New Orleans International Summer School at the University of Innsbruck hosted the U.S. Cultural Attaché Ms. Marlene Nice on Monday, July 22nd, for a lunch and lecture presentation. The American Corner Innsbruck jointly welcomed Ms. Nice back to Innsbruck, where she spoke to about 80 U.S. and Austrian students, faculty and members of the public on 175 years of Diplomatic Relations between Austria and the U.S. The sudden failure of the audio system and subsequent technological scramble didn't faze Ms. Nice, who proceeded with calm and aplomb to speak in what she referred to as her "cheerleader" voice. Ms. Nice also addressed issues of becoming/being a member of the diplomatic corps in service to the U.S. Several students remained after the talk to ask specific questions in this regard. By all accounts, the presentation and talk were a great success (aside from the audio snafu...).
