Monday, July 21, 5pm at the Galrie Claudiana, Herzog Friedrich Straße 3, 1st floor
U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Austria Alexa L. Wesner made her first official visit to Tirol and Innsbruck, stopping by the American Corner on Monday, July 21, for a town-hall style meeting with about 70 invited guests. With a good balance of Austrians and U.S. citizens (local business people, members of the Austro-American Society, students and faculty of the Universities of New Orleans and Innsbruck, teachers of English from local schools) gathered in the Galerie Claudiana, Ambassador Wesner offered some remarks on entrepreneurship before taking questions from the audience and, then, speaking personally with many of the guests present. She had inspiring word like "for entrepreneurship to work, we need an environment that enables people to succeed but also to take a risk and not fear failure" for her audience.
She also was gracious in posing for photos with many of those present, a special honor and treat for the young students who had been invited. On a slightly sad note, Cultural Attaché Marlene Nice, who has worked with the ACI for the past several years and who accompanied Ambassador Wesner from the Embassy in Vienna, was making her last official visit to Innsbruck before being reassigned to Washington. Thank you Ms. Nice for the years of cooperation, and thank you Ambassador Wesener (in advance) for your work ahead!
