POPBIO 2018 - Excursion

A short drive of about 40 minutes will bring us to Lüsens in the heart of the Stubaier Alpen mountain range.

The valley ends in a stunning high-alpine scenery at the foot of Mt. Fernerkogel, the “Matterhorn of North Tyrol”. Dependent on the snow cover, we will visit pastures, siliceous scree slopes, Pinus cembra forests, Rhododendron ferrugineum dwarf shrub heaths and other vegetation types and observe the ubiquitous signs of massive glacier retreat.
