Using climate data for climate adaptation – Examples from the urban planning sector

Silje has a long background from climate research, where she has been producing regional climate simulations part of the CORDEX initiative, been one of the lead authors for the Swiss Climate Change Scenarios (CH 2018), contributed to the Norwegian Climate Service Scenter and collaborated with companies to handle climate risks. The last years Silje has been working as a climate advisor in the engineering and architecture company SWECO, where she is using her knowledge about climate risk in urban planning with the goal to develop climate resilient societies. In this seminar Silje will present how climate information and data is used by the urban planning sector, bring up some challenges the users/sector is facing, and present how reporting standards and classification systems (e.g. EU Taxonomy) is driving the sector forward when it comes to include climate risk in the planning.
