Humanocracy: How to Build an Organization That's Fit for the Future

Confronting the challenges now facing humanity will require organizations that are dramatically more daring, resilient, inventive than is currently the norm. Indeed, a significant body of evidence suggests that in recent decades there’s been a significant decline in institutional vitality—a fact that’s reflected in slowing productivity growth across the OECD. Reversing this trend will require a root-and-branch overhaul of the bureaucratic management structures and systems that still predominate in most large institutions. In his provocative presentation, Professor Hamel will lay out the case for radical change and provide practical advice on how leaders—whatever their role or title—can spark a management revolution within their own organization.

Gary Hamel is a renowned business strategist, thought leader, and author, recognized for his pioneering work in the fields of management and organizational innovation. He has been a long-time faculty member at the London Business School. Hamel is best known for his influential ideas on strategy, which he outlined in his books such as Competing for the Future and The Future of Management. His most recent work, Humanocracy, co-authored with Michele Zanini, advocates for dismantling bureaucratic systems in favor of more human-centered organizations that empower employees to be creative and entrepreneurial. Through his writings and teachings, Hamel continues to challenge conventional management practices, calling for radical organizational change to meet the demands of the 21st century.
