Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk wurde 1851 in Brünn geboren. Der ehemalige Finanzminister veröffentlichte seine wichtigsten wissenschaftlichen Werke, die kapitaltheoretischen Untersuchungen, während seiner Berufung an die Universität Innsbruck. Böhm-Bawerk gilt heute als Wegbereiter der modernen Wirtschaftstheorie und Mitbegründer der so genannten Österreichischen Schule der Nationalökonomie.
Lebenslauf/ Werdegang Böhm-Bawerks
Die Böhm-Bawerk Lecture wurde 1980 von Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christian Smekal, dem damaligen Dekan der Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät, ins Leben gerufen. Sie findet in regelmäßigen Abständen statt. Zur Böhm Bawerk Lecture werden außergewöhnliche Wissenschaftler:innen eingeladen, die im Feld zwischen "Economy", "Politics" und "Society" (hic!) forschen. Die Einladung der Vortragenden erfolgt durch die drei Sowi-Fakultäten.
