"Branch it" is the first of several workshops within the FFG project "BioGenDesKI" innovation camp. LSU, the Lightweight Structures Unit is happy to be partner in a multidisciplinary consortium and network.
"Branch it", led by Prof. Günther H. Filz and Hasan Hadi Abdulameer, provides insights into lightweight structures in general, and specifically into nature inspired L-Systems and the design of branching structures in theory and practice. We explore the generation and simulations of such systems with Grasshopper in Rhinoceros 3D and apply them to industrial design.
The innovation camp “ Bio-inspired and generative design ” is a training program for industrial, product and textile designers and architects. The innovation camp is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and includes topics such as artificial intelligence, shapes and structures, functions and mechanisms, materials and surfaces, energy efficiency and sustainability, adaptability and robustness.
