#RETHINKRENEWREUSE _ LSU Lecture Series
Welcome to the lectures series 2023/24 at LSU, the Lightweight Structures Unit, Faculty of Architecture, Universität Innsbruck hosted by Professor Günther H. Filz.
Re-think your structure / Re-new your fifth facade / Re-use what needs a change.
With the planet getting hotter by the day, sustainability is a factor which should be factored into while planning any construction project – even more so a lightweight structure. In the world’s fight against climate change, sustainable construction has indeed become imperative. PFEIFER is a kind of pioneer in this field. We will look into three examples of stadia roofs that have been subject to refurbishment: why they have been modified, what are the changes, how did it work?
Thomas Hermeking, Head of Preconstruction, PFEIFER, Germany
Thomas Hermeking joined PFEIFER in 2006 after gaining 15 years of experience working on major projects for general contractors. He has been involved in numerous high-profile projects of PFEIFER Structures which includes amongst others, the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban (South Africa), the London Olympic Stadium (UK), various stadium projects in Qatar, and the National Stadium in Luxembourg. Refurbishment of existing structures are his favourite topic, as performed by PFEIFER at Stuttgart Stadium and Kuala Lumpur Aquatic Center.
