The Wuppertal suspension railway, built at the end of the 19th century, is considered an internationally significant monument to the art of engineering. It runs through Wuppertal with 20 stations and is still in operation after a few interruptions. Due to the severe need for renovation, the suspension railway, including all sections, its stations and, above all, the end stations, is now to be redesigned by 2032.

In this studio, we will look at the overall oeuvre of this historic and at the same time sustainable building/structure/infrastructure, both in terms of design and structure, and attempt to reinterpret it in a contemporary way.
An excursion and ride on the suspension railway are planned as part of the studio.
