Anika Frühauf studied sport science at the University of Innsbruck. During her Master program she started to focus on sports and exercise psychology with a special interest in physical activity programs for people with mental health disorders. She has a certification as training therapist, ski and tennis instructor and worked in those areas till the beginning of her doctoral studies in 2016. In 2018 she finished her doctoral thesis under the mentorship of Martin Kopp at the University of Innsbruck. Her research focused on psychometric approaches to assess motives and risk-taking behavior in adventure and high-risk sports. She has now a post-doctoral position at the University of Innsbruck and broadened her research towards psychological and pedagogical benefits of adventure and high-risk sports including gender and well-being related questions.
