Hendrik Mugele received his B.A. (2013) in Sports Science at the Humboldt-University Berlin followed by his M.Sc. (2018) in Clinical Exercise Science at the University Potsdam. After volunteering in Prof. Lawley’s laboratory at the University of Innsbruck in early 2018, he started his Ph.D. under Prof. Lawley’s mentorship in late 2018 and finished in 2022. The focus was on how mild cold stress and the combination of a prolonged exposure to hypoxia and the cold affects human blood pressure regulation. Currently, he is a postdoctoral fellow at Prof. Lawley’s laboratory, where he continues its work in the cold hypoxic multistressor environment and its effect on the human integrative physiology.
Exercise and environmental physiology
Examining the combination of exposure to hypoxia and the cold on integrative human physiology. Specifically, exploring how these two competing stressors effect the brain, heart, and blood vessels to maintain oxygen delivery whilst defending peripheral and core temperatures.
