Plant Pathology and Biocontrol
This research topic deals with the control of subterranean pests (e.g., grape phylloxera, scarab, wireworm and weevil pests, western corn root worm) and ticks. Mycoinsecticides such as Beauveria spp. and Metarhizium spp. and – for treating diseases like ESCA and grapevine root rot – mycoparasitic fungi such as Clonostachys spp. and Trichoderma spp. are applied. Potential reasons for the Apple Replant Disease are also being investigated. The research topics covered include structure elucidation of secondary metabolites, plant diseases, biological pest control, risk assessment & registration.
