About Helmut Ritsch
Helmut Ritsch was born in 1962 in Mieders, Tyrol. He concluded his university studies at Innsbruck in 1989 with a PhD in physics. Shortly thereafter, in 1993, he did his habilitation in theoretical physics. From that point on he has been leading a Quantum Optics and Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics research group at the university of Innsbruck. In almost three decades of academia Prof. Ritsch has been awarded many prestigious prizes, he has been guest lecturer at numerous renowned institutions around the world and he is routinely invited to present at colloquia and conferences. Prof. Ritsch is married and has two daughters. In his spare time he likes to enjoy nature, mostly in the form of sports like skiing or mountain biking.
