The university partnership between the University of Innsbruck and the University of New Orleans has fostered tight academic and cultural connections between the two institutions over the decades, enabling numerous successful joint initiatives. A significant contributor to the partnership has been the regular exchange of teaching and research stays between the universities.

The aim of our mobility program is to promote sustainable academic relationships, encourage innovative research collaborations, and explore new pathways for cooperation between our institutions.

Call for Proposals Short Term Staff Exchange (UIBK – UNO)

Program to support scientific exchange between the University of Innsbruck and the University of New Orleans

Objective of the Program:

This program aims to initiate and deepen international collaborations between researchers at the University of Innsbruck (UIBK) and the University of New Orleans (UNO). It promotes disciplinary and interdisciplinary exchange, supports on-site research stays, and serves to prepare joint conferences, publications, and other scientific initiatives.

Target Group:

All researchers with an active employment relationship (Professors, Senior Scientists, Senior Lecturers) are eligible to apply.

Funding Amount and Scope:

The funding is provided by both UIBK and UNO. It covers travel expenses and accommodation. Additional project-related expenses must be disclosed in advance to determine if funding is possible.

Duration:

The program supports research stays at UNO with a minimum duration of three weeks and a maximum duration of one month.

Evaluation Criteria:

The selection of funded projects will be based on the following criteria:

  • Contribution to the development of the partnership between UIBK and UNO
  • Scientific benefit and relevance of the project
  • Significance of the discipline to the partner university

A complete application consists of:

  • Project Description (max. 2 pages)
  • Curriculum Vitae

Application Process:

The call for proposals is issued once per year. The deadline will be published on this website each year.

Reporting and Outcomes:

Researchers who are awarded funding are required to report on the results and progress of their project after their stay.
Furthermore, the stay should lead to the development of an initiative that strengthens the UIBK-UNO partnership. Examples of past initiatives include: scientific conferences, joint publications, joint excursions, activities with the UNO International Summer School, joint podcasts, COIL courses.

Long-term research and teaching exchanges between two universities offer a valuable opportunity to deepen academic collaboration and foster interdisciplinary dialogue. These programs allow participating researchers and educators to work within a different academic environment for an extended period of time, contribute their expertise, and gain new perspectives.

Exchange programs not only broaden academic horizons but also support the development of lasting academic networks and partnerships. They provide participants with the chance to engage in intensive research collaborations, exchange innovative teaching practices, and teach and learn in an international context.
